Film Challenge Rules

Please read and understand the rules of the Film Challenge below. It’s important if you hope to be eligible for winning an award that your film follows all the rules.

 Film Theme
 
This year’s challenge is on the theme of ‘Love in the City’. The other criteria will be unique to each team and will picked at random by your Team Leader during the Kick-off event.

 

Your Team’s Criteria
 
Theme (all teams): ‘Love in the City’
 
Dialog (per team): A line of dialog will be randomly chosen for each team. This line of dialog must be spoken onscreen in the film you make.
 
Film Title (per team): The title of your film will be given to your team at the kick-off event.
 
Genre (per team): A film genre will be chosen at random for your team during the kick-off event.
 
Duration: Films will need to be no longer than 5 minutes 30 seconds in duration including credits and required logo’s.

 

Meeting the Criteria
 
All of the films will be judged on the following criteria:
 
• Films should have some connection to this year’s theme ‘Love in the City’.
• The Dialog that each team is given should be spoken on screen by one of the film characters.
• Films will be judged on the relevance of their film to the given Film Title.
• Films will be expected to adhere to your team's given Film Genre.
• The total duration of your team's film should be
no longer than 5 minutes and 30 seconds (including credits, logos etc) . 
 

Other rules
 
• ​All films will need to show their criteria before the film begins. Teams will also be given some graphics which will have to appear at the end of the film. Details will be provided upon registration.
• ​
This is a film challenge open to a wide range of people. As such we will not allow any graphic nudity,
   sex, or excessive graphic violence in the content of the films submitted (if you are unsure – email us here).
• ​All footage must have been filmed during the 48 hour film challenge (i.e. no stock footage is to be
​   used). Please also ensure that you do not use any copyrighted music without the appropriate permissions.
• ​We welcome live action, animations or other artistic styles.
• ​Remember one of your team must attend the Kick Off Event to receive your team’s criteria.
• All films can be submitted electronically using an online tool for large file transfers (details will be made available when teams register)


Last Rule
 
• Have fun ! This is meant to be a fun weekend of creative filmmaking and the more creative you are the more fun it will be !
